WRT BC, Pitt, and Syracuse, you are correct that the ACC

does have a business model to provide a revenue stream for those 3 schools. What is going to be interesting to see is how sustainable the business model and revenue will be when faced with increasing cost. I am not talking about just for football, but other sports too. If the ACCN doesn't produce a certain level of revenue for the schools, then I do think you could see some schools take a hard long look on whether they want to continue in the ACC.

Something that I don't think anyone has mentioned is whether schools (including HS) have any sort of insurance policy for their football team. Over the weekend ESPN did a "30 for 30" how there is only 1 insurance company willing to insure the NFL now due to the head trauma issue. If that company decided to get out of the game, then I believe the NFL has enough money that it could probably survive. I am not sure the same could be said for colleges and HS.
